A new program will allow Alabama school administrators to carry firearms, Gov. Kay Ivey announced today. The Alabama Sentry Program will arm administrators in schools that don't have a school resource officer. Training will take place over the summer, Ivey said.

So will they be paid while they take this summertime training? Also if a school doesn’t have a RSO wouldn’t it be a better move to insure the funding and personnel are available to address this need instead of turning an administrator into a sentry?
