Tough to swallow is that:
all Infantry look the same
all LVs look the same
all tanks look the same
all drones look the same
So you don't FEEL like you have 16 different units, you feel like you have 3 or 4 different units
like, I have healing infantry and grenade infantry I have AT drones and toxic bomber drones I have hit and run LVs that regen health out of combat on the surface those things are... pretty awesome actually but they all LOOK identical
There's a Glue Gun that slows down enemies and makes them take additional damage from flame weapons There's a nuclear laser that deals AoE damage around its primary target...
weapons that work void-ray style that deal increasing damage over time One gun increases the vulnerability of units to other weapons these are NEAT weapons the problem is 1 - no one is able to use them all yet, or VERY FEW PLAYERS have had a chance to experiment with them
2 - the units they're attached to LOOK THE SAME which makes the game feel and seem more boring
Like with most PG games, I think they have some good ideas. TBH I don't care that all units have the same acceleration or that the damage system doesn't have enough nuance or whatever people are complaining about on Reddit
I'm continuing to play it mostly because I want to keep unlocking stuff and because I think the game has potential and I'm hoping they can improve it to where it's really enjoyable + deep
i mean, what i WANT is for them to bring back End of Nations what I WANT is for them to have been successful with Battle Battalions What I WANT is for FB to be deeper and to favor fun combat over churning out craptons of units
but FB is pretty and fun in kind of a lighthearted way and that's good enough for me for now I think they're releasing 5 more campaign levels and Tier IV on the tech tree sometime next month. Hopefully that helps things
I'm not committing to it as my next Primary Game I'm not hoping it can Be A StarCraft Killer I'm enjoying that it's light and fun and the graphics REALLY kind of do it for me and unlocking new stuff does have kind of this skinner box effect
