And babies too!! Wow. Is "I'm sorry I'm late. There was a moose holding me hostage" considered an acceptable excuse in Alaska?

I once had an elk in OK stand at my front door one morning who wouldn't move. It was the only door out of the house. I literally put "elk wouldn't let us leave" when I signed my son into school 30min late. But this...WOW! This is so cool!!! No way should you do anything but this.

Eek, I guess it's not really safe to open the windows for a nice breeze.

So lovely and BIG! What is a safe distance to be from a momma moose? Is it “if she’s in sight then that’s too close”?
-
40-50 meters (so about 130 feet) is a safe distance to be away from a momma moose. When the babies are this tiny, she will be extremely protective and aggressive so it’s not worth the risk to get anywhere near them.

Growing up in rural Sweden we had moose with calves go between the houses and we did at the same time. We never had a problem with them. Maybe we were lucky?
-
They may have been used to your presence and more willing to deal with less space between you and them.
