Brock is still with us and she is such a friendly girl. She doesn't just wag her tail when you talk to her, she wags her whole body 😍. She's a 3yr old foxhound X and knows a few tricks too 😍

Gunner arrived here today and he has the most gentle temperament. He is a failed gun dog and is petrified of loud noises. He would happily stay by your side and loves plenty of cuddles and attention. Im in love 😢😍 3yr old red setter X

Monarch butterfly count down, again, in Pacific Grove. "Now, we can basically count them one-by-one.."😭

X marks the spot! A couple more of last year’s (possibly the year before that) Western Fence lizards. At least these have found some wood, if not fence 😄 A light one and darker one, lighter one is showing off its blue belly and throat patch 💙

I know it’s day, but here’s a couple Western Fence lizards that seem to be part Nuthatch! They know today is the last warm day for a while and they’re making the most of it - upside down on the side of the house 😄

Tundras Swans share a quiet cove with some Canada Geese during a migration stop. Oil and gas drilling in arctic breeding habitats and loss of wetlands at migratory stopover sites are potential threats to Tundra Swans. Middle Creek WMA, PA

Visited by a Common Ground dove this afternoon! Unlike their name suggests, they are not very common here. We often get one pair in the spring, though. 2nd shot shows size comparison to Mourning dove as they share the buffet, they are very small. Errr, deer grass blades 🙄

One of several monarchs fluttering in the yard on this last summer like day we’ll see for a while. A couple of Cloudless Sulfur butterflies also patrolling their blooming host plants. Western population Butterfly garden

This little female is about ready to fly, released today in memory of Homero, protector of monarchs in Mexico. Fly far, both of you...

Smile worthy - 2 days ago, driving home into town. Slowing for a signal ahead, notice a red-shoulder hawk on lamppost overhead, I lean up over steering wheel for a better look. Glance at car stopped next to me - 2 ladies doing exactly same thing! 😄 Pays to look up 🙄 City birds

I was at a coffee shop this morning and several people were talking about planting trees. Unfortunately many named off non native species. Please make sure you plant native trees like here oaks provide food for insects caterpillars birds use the caterpillars for their young

It’s gone from a loud chorus of lesser goldfinches to eerie silence in the backyard - an unannounced visit from Sharpie! It’s eyeing the hummingbird feeder, but no one is home there either ;-) Sharpie was only here a minute - ten minutes later it is still quiet! SoCal
