I agree. The book should be judged I whether it’s well written, not on the author’s genetic history. As Kathleen notes here, Sophie’s Choice was written by a man who did not survive the holocaust. That did not diminish the power of that novel.

@washingtonpost -- this whole op-ed is based on "violent threats" then cites an article that says there is in fact just "concern over the potential for 'real peril' to both Cummins and booksellers" -- are there actual threats? -
