Doesn't really matter what the SCHOOL wants, THAT decision was made by the SCOTUS in 1943. Students are NOT required to stand and recite the pledge, period.

I also refused to say the pledge as a youngster.pic.twitter.com/49VNsbrXjr

I began by leaving out certain parts of it when I was in junior high school, then stopped saying it entirely when in high school. It's a weird thing to make kids do.

So many things wrong with what happened to that 11 year old boy, it’s hard to say what’s the worst. I’ll go with the “teacher” telling him he should leave the US if he doesn’t like it. That’s Trump Jr. logic right there

How does a "teacher" get into the classroom without knowing anything about the 1st Amendment?

This shouldn't hold up. The original purpose of the pledge was supposed to highlight the best of America and be inclusive, but then "In God" was added 1930s and became religiously tilted when governmental things aren't supposed to be that way. unconstitutional requiring "in god"

It was settled by the Supreme Court in 1943, in Barnette vs. West Virginia Board of Education, when they ruled that schools cannot force students to recite the pledge of allegiance.

"Oh, the kid was just being disruptive! Nothing to do with the Pledge!" 1) the teacher needlessly escalated the situation by singling out and ridiculing the child 2) they don't take away freedoms directly; they instead take them away by claiming freedoms cause "disruption"
