There is not much that could be removed from Vulkan without sacrificing control or performance. I would call that concise.
Sure. And most application authors, and most applications don’t care about that very last ounce of performance. I would call an API that makes intelligent trade-offs with 95% less code concise. Different strokes.

We could not port our games to Metal. It's literally impossible due to missing features. I wouldn't call that "intelligent trade-offs".

I was corrected on this, most of it seems to be available now. I'm still not sure about compute access to block compressed textures.
