I wrote a blog on finding a basis set containing a particular vector. i.e. how can I get up to N-1 orthogonal vectors to some vector of dimension N? https://www.appletonaudio.com/blog/2018/given-a-vector-find-n-orthogonal-vectors/ …
Apparently this is also useful in computer graphics? Anyone seen it done this way before? @sehurlburt?

Thanks for the response! I suppose for 3 dimensional vectors, it's a a pretty significant advantage if square roots can be avoided while also keeping the resulting vectors normalised.
