Finished the most recent book on the Da Vinci Code novels. Basically 400 pages to find out a password while the AI makes trouble to make people interested in what the password reveals?

True. I think the novel does a good job portraying that. I didn't feel the narrative made Edmond's reasoning towards them clear.
Did Edmond have an explicitly stated opinion of them? I assumed Winston was just playing them as patsies via the Regent persona.

Winston tells ConspiracyNet that they killed his mom from humiliation and abuse. I guess that could have been to get more people interested? It seemed out of place

Ah, right, had forgotten that detail. Seems superfluous, considering that any number of radicals could be motivated/manipulated to do the job without that connection.
