True. I think the novel does a good job portraying that. I didn't feel the narrative made Edmond's reasoning towards them clear.

Did Edmond have an explicitly stated opinion of them? I assumed Winston was just playing them as patsies via the Regent persona.

Winston tells ConspiracyNet that they killed his mom from humiliation and abuse. I guess that could have been to get more people interested? It seemed out of place
