Because package managers should not exist? Every language/ecosystem has them.
Writing podspecs is sheer fucking agony for someone who doesn’t believe Cocoapods or Carthage should actually exist.

Yeah, it‘s the outliner with about 100 of them. buckaroo/conan maybe? We don‘t use any there.

Cocoapods tend to make things more complicated, not less... Why not adding the necessary libs as git submodules? And add a normal link to the Xcode project... I went for that option in a iOS SDK I made...
