Anyone used both OpenCL and Metal (Compute) on Mac and have a suggestion on what the preferred option is an why? (esp speed/reliability)

I’ve used Metal compute, not CL. Didn’t have any issues, but compatibility is limited to fairly recent Macs.

I see. I have a Mac Pro (2013) at home. Needs to work with that (has 2x Radeon D700)

I'd use Metal on Mac - Apple CL drivers are horseshit.

Yeah that is why I'm asking :/ Does Metal support LDS in a similar way OpenGL does? (local data storage)
