Love the Metal API but OpenGL ES still performs quite a bit better in my use cases. Somewhat disappointing.

nah, I think low draw calls with same objects being called w/ different shaders in one frame works better with GL.

it's actually the CPU why I tested. Haven't tested GPU. But caching logic for buffers ate up any potential gains.

but all in all, the API is an order of magnitude easier/more elegant than GL. Really a breath of fresh air.
