        @warrenm @Peter_shirley Is the radial pattern on the floor-sphere intentional? Also there is an extra pattern there in the reflection!

        @Peter_shirley @ApoorvaJ Yeah, saw that. Not sure. I think it’s turning up in @mhorga_ ‘s renders too. Worse at lower sample counts.

        @warrenm @peter_shirley @apoorvaj in my case the ripples seem to be smaller but I haven’t finished the raytracer yet https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mhorga/mhorga.github.io/master/images/raytracing5.png …

        @mhorga_ @warrenm @Peter_shirley @ApoorvaJ Had that one as well. Bounce ray intersecting with object itself. Make t_min > 0 for world->hit()

        @Dghelneshi @mhorga_ @Peter_shirley @ApoorvaJ Feels right. I had a vaguely similar case when doing <= instead of < against the ray params.

        Cool! But why did it took one hour for such a small image?

        It's been a while, but I think my recursion limits were insane. Also, that banding is due to numerical issues I later fixed.

        Oh ok I see! I would be curious to see how fast it would be with Metal kernels! BTW, your MBE book is great and really helpful! 😊

        @warrenm :O 1 hour?! :O This is why we need GPUs, that would be realtime. Have you profiled it?

        @_psonice @warrenm I would be actually interested in writing another article about that, and see how much easier is to do it on the GPU.

        @mhorga_ @warrenm I’m not sure it’s easier, the CPU is a lot more flexible. But it’s so much faster it’s worth the restrictions :)

        @_psonice @warrenm oh I’m definitely more interested in “faster” than in “easier”. I should have emphasized that 🙂

        @mhorga_ @warrenm well, if you’re waiting 1 hour for a render it’s probably easier too tbh :D
