@warrenm This is a very old school technique (used back in the Doom 3 days) I don't think anyone does this anymore. At least not on PC. -

@warrenm An rsqrt should be massively less power hungry than texture lookups, and not suffer the memory latency costs. -
@warrenm And, of course, the irony being that a cube map lookup needs to do a rsqrt to access the texture. -
@warrenm (Hmm.. or was it a related function?) Can't quite recall at the moment, but either way, better to not use additional texture ops.
