Nice
I guess it is from a glTF asset, can you play with USD files as well?

This is an OBJ asset converted from glTF, with PBR texture maps applied via MTL syntax extensions that ModelIO understands (e.g., map_roughness). ModelIO will load USD(Z), but the way it represents textures makes rendering extraordinarily tedious (for now).

Thanks, I’ll take a closer look on it

The problem is that when loading a USDZ file, ModelIO doesn’t populate material properties that are texture-based when asked to resolve and load (at least I couldn’t find a resolver type that worked).

Oh. Judging by this discussion, https://github.com/TimvanScherpenzeel/gltf-to-usdz/issues/1 … fixes are coming quick. Also, a bunch of usdz tools and Maya export landed on USD's dev branch. Things are coming together, quickly!

Is there tutorials you made on ModelIO?

There’s one specifically about materials on the way, but I used it in my recent Modern Metal articles as well:http://metalbyexample.com/modern-metal-2/
