And yes, I consider MoltenVk to be a thin abstraction layer, because—despite Vk’s verbosity—it translates basically 1:1 to the MTL calls a reasonably competent developer would make when using Metal “natively.”

Yeah. My impressions are only based on simple use cases. I don’t imagine most Metal 2 features will be easily exploited, for example.

Our Dota2/Source2 layer is not a very simple use case, but yes divergence will occur, it will ebb and flow.

IMHO, the performance boost here seems disappointing, especially on low end GPU (iris pro) where using Vulkan/Metal should benefit the most
