And yes, I consider MoltenVk to be a thin abstraction layer, because—despite Vk’s verbosity—it translates basically 1:1 to the MTL calls a reasonably competent developer would make when using Metal “natively.”

It’s really embarrassing to see that before 2015, we had crap graphics for Mac. Even native OpenGL-based PC ports had a significant performance degradation. At least Metal is becoming increasingly attractive each year.
