    Even when Federal Reserve subsidies become a fact, many of my colleagues won’t connect the dots back to the massive bipartisan deficits. Even now, Democrats (save 3) are unified in a BBB plan to bankrupt America - with claiming more spending will stop inflation. 🤕

    The Fed currently earns about 1.67% on a $9T asset portfolio against paying 0.13% on $6T liabilities, generating ~$140B of net interest (mostly returned to the Treasury). Raising short rates to 2.5% will put the Fed in a negative carry position requiring a subsidy from Congress.

    The SEC lots of unfinished business within their scope. Thanks for working to keep them focused.

    Under Gary Gensler, the SEC continues to promote the Biden Administration’s radical environmental agenda. Congress has not granted the SEC this authority. The SEC should remain focused on protecting investors not pleasing the far left. Read my letter to the SEC below.

    Freedom surrendered is rarely reclaimed. Today, the House Financial Services Committee voted to give unlimited surveillance authority to FinCen. In a breach of the 4th Amendment, to stop some transactions they would spy on all transactions.

    Thanks . Great thread! As many of our colleagues clamor for another war (or a pretext for one), I'm thankful for the bipartisan commitment from these colleagues to support & defend America's Constitutional process for declaring war:

    I don’t know who needs to hear this but… No reasonable interpretation of the U.S. Constitution allows a President to commit the United States to war (or acts of war) under article 5 of NATO without a vote of Congress.

    I voted NO. Unfortunately, it passed out of committee 26-23. At the Speaker’s discretion, the bill can now go to the House floor for a vote by the full House of Representatives, perish through inaction, or possibly be amended.

    Today, House Financial Services votes on a financial version of the Patriot Act. It grants FinCen unlimited surveillance authority. Like the Patriot Act, the stated purpose and title are noble. Unfortunately, freedom surrendered is rarely reclaimed. Stop spying on US citizens!

    I joined and colleagues sending a letter to SEC Chair regarding the SEC crippling crypto in America. We must promote American innovation rather than stifle it with an incoherent mix of bad regulation, selective enforcement, and ongoing inaction.

    My office has received numerous tips from crypto and blockchain firms that SEC Chair ’s information reporting “requests” to the crypto community are overburdensome, don’t feel particularly… voluntary… and are stifling innovation.

    We need to stop the economic distortions. Markets need clear, objective rules, price discovery, competition, and more to function properly. Unfortunately, subsidies, debt, the Fed, most of Congress, and regulators prevent those things to effectively protect established companies.

    We agree that the status quo is broken. However, excessive government defines the broken status quo. The solution? More freedom. Less government. Focused on individual liberty, government should make markets function, not rig them or define who gets capital.

    Many folks run around claiming to be “free-market” capitalists, but what they actually are is captured market capitalists, using subsidies + restrictive policy to hold us hostage to fossil fuels, for-profit healthcare/housing, etc that many wouldn’t choose if they had the choice

    Putin’s invasion is unjust, so we support Ukraine’s inherent right to SELF-defense and SELF-determination. America is not at war with Russia, but NATO must be prepared to contain the war. Americans or NATO enforcing a no-fly zone would mean war with Russia - wrong direction.
