How many of you out there realistically think these guys are native to #SanFrancisco? We all want to help the homeless. But SF needs to take care of it's own first. We have literally become a beacon for homelessness regionally. Are you OK with that?https://twitter.com/DGN86606727/status/1289994053933608960 …

How would you treat out of towners differently?

I wouldn't. My points are: 1. There is a an assumption that most of the homeless on the street are from SF. But, based on my experience it's about 50/50. 2. We need regional or statewide parity with our response to the homeless and drug crises.

Robust services, less oppressive law enforcement, open air drug use is acceptable, street camping is allowed. I could go on. I don't like to put it this way, but SF is the land of milk and honey for the homeless and drug addicted. It just is.

Why would you guess
@LondonBreed and@chesaboudin accept it?1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
They dont accept it. They can't do anything about it short term because the surrounding counties (except maybe Alameda) don't have anything close to the robust services SF offers. That needs to change.

They don’t accept the dealing?

They actually don't. Based on my experience, a big part of the problem is that drug dealers are treated the same as drug users in court. For many reasons. But most of the organized drug dealers in SF aren't users themselves. So a different approach might make a difference.

I'm not sure it's accurate to say they don't accept the dealing. I think there's a cohort within SF that believe drug dealing is simply a form of making ends meet. And I think Chesa is more concerned with the human rights of dealers (e.g. trafficking) than the crimes committed.
