How bright will be when it blows up? Moon-ish brighness for 3+ months, seen during the daytime for about a year, brighter than the star now for ~2 years, naked eye visible for ~3 years. Credit: grad students Jared Goldberg and Evan Bauer using MESA. 1/

I guess you have seen the image of the surface of the Sun taken by the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope. Yes, that image that looks like popcorn. Do you want to know why the Sun looks like that? Read this post

I have to say that I've got a little stressed reading in some science pages that "the surface of the Sun is boiling". Is not boiling and convection is not the same as boiling. There is also convection in the troposphere by the way.

Maybe you noticed in the image taken by DKIST, that sometimes within the dark regions, between convection cells, there are bright spots. That shows how convection can concentrate the magnetic field between convective regions.

Have you ever heated water or soup in a pot? Most likely you have seen currents rising from the edges and sinking in the center. That's convection, and convection currents are responsible for the appearance of the Sun's surface

Though many factors contribute to wildfires, the reason the Australian wildfires are so much worse this year than other recent years is the combination of record drought and record heat. History of national-average temperature and precipitation since 1910.
