It matters PRECISELY because we're in the era of Trump. Any candidate who fails to live up to ethical standards is saying that what Trump does is just fine.

I'm also very disappointed that the media seems hellbent on repeated one of its biggest mistakes of 2016 by not demanding answers from these candidates about what they own and what they will divest. Come on!

Let’s not make his unprecedented opacity the new bar. A return to normalcy would be better.

Not just that but we need to strengthen anti-corruption, nepotism, & ethics laws when he’s gone. So this can never happen again. Too much was based on office holder/their staff caring about the appearance of ethics and general principles. Then Trump came—he didn’t give a flip.
