A 101-year-old man, who has had to apply for settled status to stay in the UK after 54 years here, was rejected because the Home Office app does not allow him to enter 1919 as a birthdate. The next article I will be writing is ”Web performance for designers” (yes! it’s not only a developer-centric area, contrary to popularised performance knowledge!)
If you’re a designer—respond with your questions and areas you’d like to learn about!

"As a survey designer, I’ve done many tests on such ‘hint’ icons [tooltips], containing additional copy. In our tests, respondents almost never see them, and of those that do very few access them. We concluded to never use them for anything we actually want a user to see."

The javascript community fought hard for the fat arrow syntax, () => {}. It’s shorter for sure. But way more annoying to type on a regular basis than function() {}. And that is the folly of programmer culture IMO. Constantly optimizing the wrong things for the wrong reasons.

Often times when the original Lara Croft comes up in discussion, people are quick to say that she was created for the "male gaze." I'm making this thread to clear the air on this misunderstanding, which mostly comes from those who didn't play the games tbh 1/?pic.twitter.com/Lr8Hfw7Ip8
