We're celebrating #WomensHistoryMonth in Tacoma! I’m so grateful to all of the women who power our city each and every day.
Women have shaped our community for the better – and now, we’re fighting to build a brighter future for us all.

At tonight's #TacCouncil mtg., Mayor Victoria Woodard proclaimed March as #WomensHistoryMonth in #Tacoma. Mayor Woodards along with the City Council celebrated our city staff and @MyTPU staff, along with all the amazing women who work tirelessly to make our city better each day.
Endorsement update: I’ve been endorsed by State Senators T’wina Nobles and Yasmin Trudeau, along with dozens of local leaders in Tacoma and Pierce County! Check out our full list of endorsements here:

The climate crisis affects our health, our economy, and our planet – we need action now. That’s why I’m fighting to implement Tacoma’s Climate Action Plan, lower our greenhouse gas emissions, and set us on the path to net-zero emissions!

Investing in our community is the only way to improve public safety for all Tacomans. I am committed to making sure the police force is fully-staffed and alternative response units have the resources to succeed so that we can restore Tacoma as a safe community. Let’s get it done.

We’re also partnering with the Tacoma Fire Department to build a Behavioral Health Crisis Response Team – a unit responding to 911 calls from those in mental health crises. People in crisis deserve trained mental health professionals to help meet their needs.

We need community & crisis response teams to lead our community as first responders to nonviolent, noncriminal emergencies. I am proud to share that we are making progress on this front by investing in Community Service Officers & freeing up police to focus on urgent crime.

I believe we must take a more holistic approach to public safety. We can’t expect police to tackle increasing violent crime while simultaneously being social workers and mental health counselors. We need more resources to free up officers so they can do their job.

Last night’s #StateOfTheCity made it clear that Tacoma must address the urgent problem of crime in our city with new public safety solutions. We have a lot of work to do – and I’m eager to work alongside Mayor to answer this call to action.

No matter where you live, you deserve access to clean water to drink and air to breathe. That’s why I fought to improve the quality of the air we breathe, strengthen environmental protections in the Port, and invest $17 million to combat climate change.

As a mom, I know public safety is a top priority. Only by expanding community programs & investing in people will we improve public safety for everyone. I’m working to implement our crime plan, ensure the police force is fully-staffed, and invest in alternative response units.

I’ve championed efforts to expand affordable housing. I’ve fought to:
✅ Address racial disparities in home ownership
✅ Expand shelter options
✅ Increase safe parking
✅ Build the affordable housing trust fund

In my first term, I’ve worked hard to create opportunity, close equity gaps, and address racial disparities. I’m focused on supporting and empowering Tacoma's youth, expanding economic opportunity, improving multimodal transportation and protecting access to green spaces for all.

Whether we have the space to move more & more people as cities grow, plus room for all the OTHER important things that make streets & cities great, depends ENTIRELY on HOW we choose to move. And how design makes better choices easier or harder. HT

A better federal policy would be to invest more in climate-friendly transportation options like transit, walking, & biking, and to stop stacking the deck so that communities have to choose between easy highway money or an uphill slog for transit cash. bit.ly/2M87HSG
