It’s a common tactic. Group a person or idea many people think is bad (A) with a person or idea you WANT people to think is bad (B). Makes the badness of A seem like evidence of the badness of B, and discourages people from openly supporting B bc they’ll be seen as supporting A.

I think about this a lot. We need to deconstruct these tactics, give names to them (there are many "logical fallacies" categories) and give examples like this tweet so others can recognize them.
