Darwin. After death, the deceased is no longer a competitor.
Same thing happens the day you quit a "competitive" job. "Eulogy lens" is the perfect description The person leaving is not longer a competitor and no new, surprising actions are expected anymore. So a "final" opinion can be expressed
Death seems to be far from top of mind/consciousness in the Western world (feared and/or taboo to talk about).
“Keep the really grim things not far from the top of consciousness pretty much every day.” — @alaindebotton
A shift in consciousness would help us all see through the "eulogy lens" and have more compassion for each other while we're alive.
“Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to ‘die before you die’ and find that there is no death.” ― @EckhartTolle
Mainly, we should learn to live in grace with others. Rather than dwelling on a person's lowest moments, we should build people up, practice forgiveness, and carpe the mothereffing diem. Live life like you're at family lunch after Granny's funeral. Be mindful. Put down your phone
Agreed, not talking about Kobe here because didn't know him, but I think there is also a halo effect postmortem where people exaggerate the good aspects of people after they die. This makes sense and helps the community heal.
praising everybody everytime they are doing good thing during their life is impossible to do, and not a good thing too for our ego. But we can consider that if people praising you after your death ; it’s mean that you were a good person on average during your life
Don't hold grudges. Get rid of your ego. Spend quality time with those closest to you. Give daily compliments. Eliminate negativity from your day to day life. Love unconditionally. It's never too late to make amends.
