What about all the things that fuck with the outcome of an election? Gerrymandering, money in politics, social media meddling, electoral college, etc. What if the system is so broken that people don’t believe in it regardless of the outcome?
All of these arguments assume a democracy that is efficiently and honestly structured to allow voter participation. Felony disenfranchisement, DC and Puerto Rico, aggressive suppression of POC communities make elections illegitimate

Not sure Q1 is worded to make your point well. In a Genie situation, I might wish for my preferred outcome over the will of the voters if the will of the voters is unjust (i.e. anti civil rights.) That completely unrealistic scenario isn’t pro-dictatorship, it’s pro-justice.
