@danielpunkass @mjtsai Have you considered the Apple System Log API? Not exactly keeping it the same, but might be suitable for your needs.

@wadeco Oh, hm, that's an idea. Yeah I had a comment in my hack that says "try to get time-based filtering like ASL", so maybe!

@danielpunkass Of course ASL isn’t really going to help for getting to crash logs which was your original problem.

@wadeco I switched to in-app crash logging with PLCrashReporter so I don't rely on Apple's logs anymore. :-\

@danielpunkass Sure sure. Using ASL with a thin function wrapper like NSLog would totally work then.

@wadeco @willco007 Yup. Even for your own messages, you can't query them from ASL. Hence this whole pursuit with double-logging :-\
