Update: #ColdSpringsFire is now 187,689 acres but has climbed to 40 percent contained thanks to firefighters and aircraft combining to make good progress. Containment lines along the perimeter continue to be the primary objective for approximately 290 personnel working this fire.

In the last 72 hours, DNR has responded to an uncommon amount of fires in Western Washington. These fires have been driven by dry east winds. Winds are expected to diminish in the next 24 to 48 hours and significant rainfall is expected by Monday. More info threaded here:

#WaWILDFIRE UPDATE #Tunnel5Fire is approximately 533 acres and 0% contained. Level 3 evac remains for 2mi radius and Level 1 for Klickitat E of fire. Evacuees directed to Skamania Fairgrounds. Area is “no fly zone” for drones and boaters asked to avoid.

Good progress made overnight on #StaymanFlatsFire - currently 800 acres. Dozer lines in place on both flanks, with two hand crews set to join ground resources today. Sizable air resources being deployed: four fire bosses, two heavy tankers, T1 & T2 helicopters.

More than 31 new wildfires on the landscape today after a series of eastern Washington lightning strikes. Initial attack crews have been busy. Several new fires are already contained, though heavy wind gusts are expected to challenge efforts throughout the day.

As of 7-21-23: campfires, recreational fires, charcoal & briquettes are PROHIBITED on DNR protected lands in South Puget Sound Region — as is Rule Burning & Permitted Burning. Cooking stoves, BBQs & recreational fire pits fueled by propane/gas with shutoff valve are authorized

#WaWILDFIRE UPDATE: #MapleFire near Hoodsport showed moderate fire activity yesterday and has now burned 1,245 acres. Firefighters have containment lines around 25% of the fire. More info: inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/6111/

#MapleFire update: 995 Acres,12% contained, 258 personnel working the fire. Fire is expected to continue backing down to the 2480 Road on the east flank & continue to move up the Jefferson Ck drainage to the west while remaining north of the 2401 Road.

Red flag warnings have been issued for the highlighted counties. West of the Cascades, this will likely be the highest fire danger of the season as hot, dry winds leave normally damp fuels such as grass & moss ready to burn and primed for rapid spread.

#CedarCreekFire is burning 5 miles sw of #Mazama. It has grown to more than 75 acres and was caused by lightning. More updates as they come in.

SR 20 will FULLY CLOSE at 10AM today- Monday- between mileposts 172-174 (about 20 miles west of Winthrop near Early Winters) for fire response activity. There is no estimate for when the highway will reopen so people should plan to use US 2 or I-90 for cross-state travel.
