By far the most interesting authors I have read are deep conservatives who have read and absorbed a lot of Marxist cultural critique
-
-
Roger Scruton, any book but Modern Culture is probably the best representation - Scruton has said that Marxism critique was right in many ways, it just "reached the wrong conclusions"
-
Peter Sloterdijk has been described as conservative - you could read Critique of Cynical Reason
-
Houellebecq - Atomised/ The Elementary Particles
-
(Incendiary choice) Adorno's Dialectic of Enlightenment - probably one of the books most attractive to conservatives

I think that's what draws people to Marx, he gets so much right but it's what he gets wrong that ends up influencing people, be it conclusion or alleged solutions
