Teaching oneself a language seems to mean necessarily coming into contact with lots of gaudy content designed to catch the attention of the broadest possible audience. If this is not true, I'd appreciate some recommended tools, friends

i picked up english largely through playing online video games as a kid, then later on (tho i was still young at this point) english/american comedy shows.

I considered getting back into videogames just to play them in Spanish. Might assuage some of the guilt of it feeling like a waste of time
