Well his "serious scholarship" was as a mathematician studying complex function theory so it's not surprising he's out of his depth.
True. But I was disappointed by how limited (and petty) some of his observations were after knowing his history as a serious scholar pre/ leaving civilization. Also, considering how bleak the picture is, providing solutions seems to be the only thing that really matters
