Can anyone recommend me some literature on meditation?

which is why good ideas and realizations often occur there. creativity can flourish in a relaxed state. anyway, there's no "right" way to do it, find something that works for u. i listen to mozart.

That's the aspect I'm most interested in. If there's any neurotic tendency I'm trying to curb its the inability to remain in a single moment; the distraction sickness, which we all have to some extent

Also, and I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, I'm interested in meditation because of my interest in the transcendentalists and, by extension, the Bhagavad Gita - I just dislike the pop form of meditation which seems to prescribe a specific method rather than, as you say, finding

- something which works for you

Changing one's environment and mode of existence seems like an important aspect of meditation to me, whereas the popular form seems more stoic - limiting the extent to which those factors affect you

that's the mindfulness sort of approach.. the other approach, which can very often be aided by music, is to basically just get the benefits of sleeping, without falling asleep. people do it naturally. they relax on the bed, eyes closed, or in the shower.

u certainly come across as an extremely low neuroticism person (this is a compliment), so i suspect u wont need mindfulness meditation in particular. it's basically about chilling, and practicing/training to notice weird thoughts coming in and stopping them early.

you are welcome. once you understand the goals of it, you wont need literature, you'll figure out a way yourself. the 2 primary benefits are 1) stress reduction --> physically healing effect, relaxation 2) mindfulness helps to be MINDFUL and stop neurotic loops e.g. nail biting
