have you read about the welfare state? being on benefits sounds like hell tbh
The fact that I could quite easily fall back onto the welfare state sucks all the urgency and desperation out of my work

Yeah, it's awful. But it's not starvation or death. It's depression and dehumanisation; boredom and ennui. Something which is all too easy to gravitate towards when you're in the right frame of mind
