Physical exercise is essential - but the idea that its benefits (muscular development, stamina, etc.) are themselves the goal and not just a happy happenstance of undertaking meaningful, physical labour makes the isolated activity of exercise feel more hollow than it should

Second tier meaning: 1. Some activities you do are meaningful. 2. Good health allows you to better pursue those meaningful activities. 3. Thus, good health provides you with more "overall meaningfulness" and is itself a meaningful goal. Is this is a sufficient justification?
