The solution to the overpopulation crisis will be voluntary mind-uploading. Anyone stupid enough to believe that a simulation constitutes consciousness can be uploaded gratis, and what remains of their earthbound "meat puppets" the rest of us will use for compost

For example, an ethical hunting will emerge: the uploaded minds will be locked into mechanical birds and shot for sport. Since their consciousnesses cannot die, we can shoot them again and again without fear of impacting the ecosystem
