I once had a job interview, and I was asked if I'd mind starting work at 7:30, I said yes, I have a life, I don't wanna have to get up at 6. They never called me back.
For every job interview for which I have arrived late, scruffily-dressed and hungover, I have gotten the job. I can't draw a causal relation here, but I recommend that you do the same. I imagine that desperation is what is most offputting to employers, as it is for women
