If we were to redistribute the wealth now, people would spend it on flat-screen televisions, plastic house ornaments and drugs. You can't redistribute taste and good sense

Anecdotally, I know many families in relative poverty who have enough money to drug their children with electronic tablets and xboxes, but have very little left over to afford healthy food and well-fitting clothes for those children

Only if the family is ill-informed enough that they regularly buy crisps, sweets, alcohol and breaded meat ready-meals. A £600 tablet can feed a family of four for at least 5 months

And being ill-informed is the problem. Many people in poverty have no idea about nutrition because they come from a long line of dependents
