I think the idea is that the cultural christianity isn't real christianity, and that to really retain religious identity requires isolating from the free market, and Islam is doing that better than christianity is

I think it's a weird paradox that England, which has essentially become de facto secular since the reformation, has retained (for better or worse) a tinge of religious sentiment which has made it more christian than other, more stridently religious states

But it's probably true that it's not Christianity in a strict sense. But hey, you can be orthodox or you can be effective
