I haven't been to any lefty stuff in a long time :/
The only time I have is when I happened to be in c. London while a brexit protest was going on. Mostly just people (including myself) sitting on the field outside of W.minster drinking red stripe and running through rainbow banners. Felt ineffective to say the least

Tbh those kinds of events are basically a kind of group pep session / chance to meet people. So they're effective but not directly.
