2/ Cloudburst (https://github.com/hydro-project/cloudburst …) is a prototype FaaS system that enables low-latency state sharing for serverless programs -- things like access to shared state, direct communication, and function composition.
3/ The key idea is to introduce caches that live on the same physical machine as function executors, while architecturally decoupling compute and storage like other serverless systems.
4/ For a real-world prediction pipeline, we're able to outperform existing infrastructure (AWS Lambda) as well as purpose-built systems (AWS Sagemaker). Full paper here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2001.04592
