I looked up the rules just now, and looking back, they were particularly sexually charged. I didn't really know what half the things were, and what could exist in this realm, but it's definitely a subculture that always left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Like, to tie it back to nerd things, if the internet was Bruce Banner, the manosphere is Devil Hulk. And if the driver was, indeed, an incel? well, Devil Hulk got out. And unless we take this threat seriously, it'll keep getting out.

But what can we do about this?? Let young men enjoy things without ridicule. Teach them not to feel ashamed of not being "manly"/"macho"/"cool". Validate their emotions. Teach them to respect women, or at least to see them as more than sexual objects. Teach coping skills.

These aren't new ideas! And this isn't even, like, an ideological feminist soapbox thing. There's research out there! Psychological/sociological research that validates the idea that unlearning systemic toxic masculinity is necessary for a healthy society!

anyway, soapbox of the night is again about mental health. This weird socialization of gender norms isn't the default, and it's honestly messing with a lot of people's mental health. And seeking help for stuff isn't shameful either!
