    I spent the weekend in a small town in India - Haldaur - 5 hours from Delhi with no WiFi. While there, I paid out $100K in donations to 100 projects - sending money to people in 15+ countries. 🤯💸

    Through growing pains, Gitcoin Grants Round 4 was a huge success. The $344K ($144K from 1K unique contributors) reminds 230 projects that the community supports them - literally. The results, top 10 projects, and future plans below 👇🏽

    These questions are at the core of why Round 4 + CLR experiments are so interesting to me. How does funding OSS / community projects change incentives? Can more creativity and useful work bloom as a result? We're poking around to see 🙂

    Don’t be distracted by the $ amounts that is processing. Think about the types of work that’s getting funded there vs on other work platforms, and what this could look like many years out.

    Then, the costs: - Would we have seen such a well built UX? - Would the community-owned version support 4K employees? 400? 40? - What other perks do we lose in the tradeoff? Crypto gives us the option, which is nice. Like having the LLC option is nice for companies.

    To further 's point by illustration - consider the benefits to users if was community owned. Could I: - Opt out of 'Discover' features? - Download my own Twitter plug-ins? - Use for Twitter? (a idea)

    Three ways for startups to exit: - aggressive fundraising and eventually, public offering. - get acquired or sell to a competitor. - incrementally, exit to community. The crypto movement is all about E2C. Amazing read:
