Data used to calculate PRS is largely based on EUR datasets. Generating methods for PRS in diverse populations/different ethnicities will be a major step in improving its clinical utility. Nice work from the @NIH who today announced $38mil to fund this type of research.

..it’s hard to get this right straight away, but in Flagship's view, you might not start with a breakthrough and people may make fun of you, but we fundamentally believe in descendancy- being able to persist in that grotesque form of something that eventually becomes beautiful...

..that is how Flagship thought about it. If you make peace with the fact that really valuable things can be the descendants of otherwise ugly looking things (initial ideas), you will then realise that looking for beautiful ideas may not be the best way to look for breakthroughs..

...as we looked for a systematic way to create more than average value we thought we better accept more risk upfront and attack the immediate future from the further out future. Leap beyond the wall and come back and connect with the present reality, that is uncharted territory..

...so the question is what do you do? 9/10 times you water it down to something that sounds reasonable so people relate to it and give you resources, but, if you are able to leap and persist in such a way that you are iterating to find the breakthrough, you will then succeed...
