The official reason is to stop the whole experience of tracking the subscriber drop that happens during controversies. I guess that is a way to deal with??

I mean. I agree completely that watching subscriber drops has become some sort of perverse entertainment that can be dangerous. Similar story with sub wars between large channels. This, however, seems like a very weird way of addressing that.

From what I’ve read it’s to stop those YouTube accounts that stream live sub count wars between channels, or like when ProJared was outed several channels were streaming his sub drop count live. So to stop the toxicity they’ve done this!

However if you go to the creator app on your phone you can still see your actual sub count!
