How can you possibly measure the amount of stigma by color or culture? Is there like a survey? Rate your percieved stigma from 1 to 10. What a ridiculous claim!
-
A study referenced in the article surveyedhttps://www.apa.org/pi/oema/resources/ethnicity-health/asian-american/article-mental-health.aspx …
-
"Our sample included 600 Chinese, 508 Filipinos, 520 Vietnamese, and 467 other Asians" How can yoy compare percieved stigma accross races when you don't measure any other races?!
-
I think the survey could use more rigor, as do all academic research. The author is speaking from personal experience for most of the article however
-
Then the headline should reference her individual personal experience and not attempt to marginalize the TREMENDOUS stigma felt by people of ALL races suffering from mental illness!
-
The studies are well researched enough to be statistical, and the author doesn't exclude others who are in pain. To me, it feels more like highlighting
-
"But there’s even more stigma within communities of color," There is no basis for this claim. None. End of story.
-
I think this study speaks more to the stigma element you're referencinghttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4043281/ …
