I am so sorry this happened to you. Sadly, every woman I know has their own sexual assault story.

I loved some JH movies growing up, but I remember hating this one—even the panty 'joke.' I think of friends' stories from then, & yeah, the rapetrain thing was real. And 'good' guys knew it was wrong. But in that culture, that just meant not participating rather than intervention
-
But it happened. Trust me, if you were a strong woman that stood up for other women back then, you were a bitch and a dyke and a prude. I WAS that woman and I was none of those things.
-
Much respect. I'm sure no guys intervened tho. I wasn't in hs then, but I do remember how even later when things were easier for us (there was even a feminist teen magazine in the 90s!), my bff & I often got labeled 'angry feminists' by some boys for *simply* speaking our minds

There was rape, and then date rape. And now the all-encompassing sexual assault. I'm not complaining, there should be standards as to what is sexual assault. Maybe get a signed consent form beforehand.
-
Maybe just treat women as you’d want to be treated if you were a woman.

Watched this movie a few weeks ago; this scene was brutal. The worst part, I thought, was when cheerleader Caroline says she thinks she enjoyed it.

In the movie The Accused with Jodie Foster & Kelly Mc Gillis deals with rape and particularly deals with bystanders who watch rape even egging the rape on.
-
That movie was traumatizing and powerful.
-
Yes, it was. It was one of those movies that isn’t about entertainment, it’s about human experience and seeking justice. I recall Kelly Mc Gillis disclosing her own sexual trauma prior to the movie release date.

Sadly, this is very true. Remember when teen movies consistently included the line (usually said by a jock type), "All she needs is a good f**k?" I remember.
