It’s not a big deal if Brett Kavanaugh drank underage. But it’s a big deal that he’s lying about it now, writes Matt Yglesias.https://bit.ly/2OMA88R

The president of the United States has made lying so common place that people don't think it's a big deal if a supreme court judge nominee lies to get the job. It's so obvious he has lied and avoided answering questions. You can't get a job anywhere else doing that!

This is key: A teen doing bad things isn't a problem...an adult man positioning himself to judge others at the highest court in the land who is lying about his past is a HUGE problem.

It was a big deal when Douglas Ginsburg admitted to smoking pot, it got his nomination pulled.

It was still 18 to drink in D.C. until 1986. His high school is like 20 minutes to D.C. You should probably include that in your article if you’re speculating.

“Kavanaugh turned 18 in February 1983 and Maryland raised its drinking age to 21 back in July 1982. What he is perhaps misremembering is that the District of Columbia had a lower drinking age of 18” He was right about 18 yr olds being able to provide beer for parties.

Most of Kavanaugh's drinking at Yale was underage too. Connecticut raised legal age to 19 in 1982. He turned 19 in 1984. They raised it to 20 in 1983. He turned 20 in 1985. They raised it to 21 on Sep. 1, 1985. He turned 21 on Feb. 12, 1986. He graduated in 1987.

"The cover up is worse than the crime". The Watergate break in was bush league, something easily taken care of. If it had been handled properly. Instead it brought down an administration who tried to sweep it under the rug.

It's crazy the double standard between drunk ignorant arrogant wealthy white men committing sexual crimes vs poor blacks that smoke pot then just chill and walk down the street while black getting 1 to 5 for 'possession' while we put this drunk rapist on the court.

WRONG. It IS a HUGE deal that he drank underage. It's ILLEGAL and he did belligerent, illegal things while drunk. If judge Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg can be toppled for smoking pot and then eating some cereal while high, then Brett also deserves same standard.

Well unfortunately for Bret kavanaugh the 19 year old gender studies writer at vox isn’t the end all be all of deciding what’s a big deal. If he admitted to underage drinking the establishment wouldn’t like that..

Ask Julie Swetnick If nine teenage girls and you a twenty year old were gang raped by teenage boys. Where are the medical records and police reports. Because What medical professional would not call police about gang rapes happening in their city/town
