I sometimes get annoyed with Vox, but I actually agree with this headline. It’s way too common. I never humiliated or hurt anyone, but I don't like the way I used to think about this stuff (I used to be a conservative, though).

You seem to have found a bridge to cross. What caused you to change?
-
Long story. On some level, I think I enjoyed being a prick, in the way that, presumably, someone like Milo Yiannopoulos does, but at some point the blatant indefensibility of my views began to wear me down. There were other factors, but that was the main one. Thanks for asking.
-
Your story and your path to change is of great value to what we are confronting today. I would say many men (and some women) don’t know how to change so they stay with what they know even if it doesn’t serve them well. Anger is a tough cycle to break, I respect your honesty. TY

Very kind of you. Much easier to do when you’re still young, I suspect. I didn’t feel that there was much risk, or loss of face, in shedding my views. The other big factors were: a.) the sheer logical inconsistencies in my old views; & b.) Bernie Sanders, who I admire enormously.

So you present the unsupported accusations as truth.

What is wrong with these people? Why are you so fucked up in the head? How can bonding over humiliating women be common? How weak are American men?
-
They're not, vox panders to weak men
-
I can't help to notice just how many Americans are jumping to Kavanaugh’s defense, and that says a lot about their weakness and their character. It's not just a few people, it's most people on the right. Why would you defend and not condemn this behavior if you're not weak?
-
You're not looking at it through the political context of the situation before Kavanaugh was nominated the Democrats explicitly said we will do anything and everything to stop the next Supreme Court domination, and obviously they are doing anything
-
So if a political party is against a sexual offender, his behaviour should be excused? I don't think so, I think strength means being able to admit when one of your own has done something wrong, strength is when you're willing to admit you have a problem so that you can fix it.

Wow. Am I glad you are not on a jury. Judging before the facts are heard. Recuse yourself from any judgement in this matter.

This is pathetic. Vox, high school kids are often mean to each other. They often humiliate people and are humiliated in turn. They are kids. It’s not disqualifying.

No it’s not. And that didn’t happen.

Matt Rinaldi is a Republican state representative in Texas’ 115 District, seeking re-election in 2018. He was named one of the “Worst Legislators of 2017” by Texas Monthly and has an abysmal voting record on protecting sexual assault victims.
