Love them or hate them, an influx of dockless scooters could push cities to build safer, more accommodating streets.pic.twitter.com/3sxeWx0FUC

Portland has 3 brands of these - and I spent the evening last night riding them with my girlfriend to go see a show. We saw more of Portland than we do walking, and FAR more than when we just drive around. These are awesome, and yes - even we need more bike lanes!

Geez, it's too bad we didn't have another form of self-powered two wheel conveyance over the last 100 years that could have fostered safe streets. But scooters.

What % of the population can ride a scooter but can't ride a bike?

This was a tongue in cheek response. Point is we've had 100+ years to get safe streets/protected lanes for bikes, but most have done a poor job. If scooters will get us there, the good! Just not holding my breath.

How do you “build safer streets” in cities that are fully developed and can’t handle the current traffic volume?

Take back our cities from cars which cause the congestion and reallocate it in more humane and efficient ways. #bancars - not everywhere, just most places.

5:30 minutes on sidewalk widths and people leaving scooters around and there wasn't room for one sentence on wheelchair accessibility?

Until we get these dangerous toys off the sidewalks they will be a massive problem for cities. I don’t disagree with the premise of the article but we are approaching this ass backwards.
